Frontier Guard patrols have foiled attempts to smuggle more than a ton of explosives, 37 hand grenades, and 147 pieces of weaponry in the third quarter of the current year. Patrols also seized 14,305 items of ammunition and weapon accessories, 18 bomb detonators, 20 sticks of dynamite, 19 mine detonators and two Global Positioning System devices. In all 840 smugglers were arrested, along with 94,847 individuals trying to enter the country illegally. Also seized was 1,744 kg of hashish. On the Saudi-Iraqi border, authorities seized a further 29 kg of hashish and more than 44,000 narcotic pills, while 66 border infiltrators and one smuggler were detained. – Okaz __
