Three persons died over Friday and Saturday as heavy rains lashed Asir causing a power outage in several villages in the province. Floods swept one vehicle away, with Civil Defense teams rescuing one of the two passengers. Another Saudi national died when his car swerved off the main road and crashed into a concrete barrier, and an Indian national died in a similar accident. The two Saudi nationals who died were named as Mousa Al-Qahtani, 28, and Salim Juway'id, 35. Rains and thunderstorms caused a power outage in several villages and resulted in the closure of Dhil' Mountain Pass for over 14 hours due to the rockslides, leaving many schoolchildren and teachers stranded. Villages in Tihamat Qahtan were also cut off when floods swept away the dirt roads.
