Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA) announced on Friday new arrangements to protect tenants' rights. The authority said instead of electricity bills appearing in the name of property owners, they will be linked and issued in the name of the actual consumer. In a statement to Al-Riyadh daily, ECRA's director general for legal affairs and licenses Abdulrahman Al-Muhaizea said two agreements have been prepared — one for connecting the service and the second for consumption. He also said a guidebook for providing electricity connections has been compiled and submitted to the Saudi Electricity Company for approval. He said the two agreements form the legal basis for linking the bill with the actual consumer. Al-Muhaizea said the move seeks to put an end to the problems that arise between property owners, tenants and the Saudi Electricity Company.
