All eligible students aspiring to be sent on scholarships abroad and whose names did not appear in the final list will have the option of lodging a complaint with the Ministry of Higher Education within five days effective Saturday. Dr. Majed Abdul Kareem Al-Harbi, Director of the King's Scholarships Program, said the Ministry strictly applies a transparent system and it entails that a student has the right to know on what grounds his application was rejected. A committee at the Ministry of Higher Education located on Al-Ghadir District here, has been set up to evaluate the complaints, he said. Dr. Al-Harbi said all selected candidates should hand over secondary certificates and all other credentials to the Compulsory Qualifying Training Centers in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al-Khobar. He said the Ministry sends SMS messages to students answering questions about venues of the orientation courses. He said attending the training courses and submission of original certificates are fundamental requirements for completion of scholarship procedures. He said the courses are meant to improve the spoken and writing abilities of the selected students in English as well as making them computer literate. Meanwhile, Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education, is scheduled to inaugurate on Saturday the first Quality Forum for officials in charge of quality in universities. The forum, held under the theme “Quality is Everybody's Responsibility,” focuses on ways to ensure quality in education process in all universities.
