MILAN — Both coaches were sent off as Serie A leader Juventus scrambled a 1-0 win at bottom club Catania in a bad-tempered match Sunday. League topscorer Carlos Tevez notched the winner with a shot that slipped through Catania goalkeeper Mariano Andujar's hands in the 59th minute of a feisty match which the Sicilians were unlucky to lose. Juventus, looking certain to win a third successive title, has a 14-point lead over AS Roma which won 2-0 at Chievo Saturday. Juve coach Antonio Conte and his opposite number Rolando Maran were ordered from the touchline simultaneously in the first half for dissent and the host had striker Gonzalo Bergessio sent off for elbowing Giorgio Chiellini in the second half. AC Milan ended a run of four consecutive defeats in all competitions when it drew 1-1 at Lazio after Mario Balotelli was dropped from the starting line-up. The maverick striker hit the post after being brought on in the second half. Milan took the lead just before halftime through an Abdoulay Konko own goal, while Alvaro Gonzalez drew Lazio level just after the hour mark. Juve is 20 ahead of Napoli, whose bid for the runner-up spot and the second automatic Champions League place suffered a setback in a 1-0 home defeat to Fiorentina. Lille holds Monaco In Paris, Lille came back to force a 1-1 draw at Monaco Sunday and picked up a valuable point to keep earlier winner Saint-Etienne and Lyon at bay in the battle for third in Ligue 1. Claudio Ranieri's second-placed side lost more ground in its bid to close the gap to runaway leader Paris Saint-Germain and now trails by 10 points with just eight matches remaining. Lille's point pushes it three points clear of the pack in the race for third place and the final Champions League spot. “It's a very good point for us,” said Lille coach Rene Girard. “With a little bit more guts, we could even have gone home with a bit more. Paris and Monaco are playing out their championship and we're playing out ours. “We're three points in front (of Saint-Etienne) which is not safe but there's a derby coming up (Lyon vs. Saint-Etienne) which we could profit from as long as we don't mess things up ourselves,” added Girard. Earlier in the day, Saint-Etienne compounded relegation-threatened Sochaux's problems with a 3-1 win at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium while Lyon is a further three back in fifth place after edging Guingamp 1-0 in Brittany. — Agencies
