Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Riyadh, has ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the reasons why Shoura Council member Mansour Abdulghaffar was left lying dead on a street for three hours last Sunday night. Police and paramedics at the scene had not attended to the body until a forensics science team arrived. A statement from Riyadh Emirate said Prince Salman has asked to investigate the procedures taken to attend to the emergency, uncover mishandling of the case, if any, and punish those found responsible. Abdulghaffar's son Aml said the family was touched to receive condolences phone calls from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince Salman. Abdulghaffar died of heart failure during an evening jog.But Aml cited witnesses as saying that his father did not die immediately on falling to the ground on the street in the plush Olaya district. He said his father was still murmuring on the ground, citing a witness who helped him to pronounce Shahada. The witness used his cell phone to call for help. “It took the Red Crescent ambulance 47 minutes to arrive at the scene,” Aml said. – Okaz __
