MADURAI — Former Union minister M.K. Alagiri, who has been suspended Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday caused a flutter in his party by saying he would welcome Narendra Modi of the BJP becoming prime minister. “There appears to be a wave in favor of Modi for the country's top job,” Alagiri said in response to a query from reporters after a meeting with his supporters in the temple city. “I would personally welcome it if he becomes the prime minister,” the elder son of the DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi said, adding, he had met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh and others during his recent visit to New Delhi. Slag irk has been suspended from the DMK for anti-party activities and denied ticket for the Lok Sabha polls.
