What to do when you stop losing weight?
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 15 - 03 - 2014

After you've made the decision to become healthy, to start eating right and moving more to lose those extra kilos of fat that are preventing you from wearing your favorite clothes, this is what usually happens: You start losing a lot of weight the first two weeks, and then it's as if your body forgets how to do that anymore.
You stop losing weight, and you get frustrated because it's not worth your effort anymore. This is usually followed by you quitting and gaining all that weight back. i.e. going back to square one.
The good news is you are not the first to face this problem. I've managed to solve it myself, and solve it for many others. And throughout this process I've developed a check-list that will help you evaluate your problem, identify the trouble areas and finally, resolve it and start losing weight again.
What I've learned with people, and witnessed them learn with me is that you must take some good time evaluating the problem first before you start trying solutions haphazardly.
So make sure that before you try the latest diet supplement, or the new crazy exercise program out there, you go through this list carefully. I've divided it into 2 steps. You should not go to step 2 until you finish step 1. There is a high chance that your problem can be solved if you follow step 1 properly. If you already have, then you can move to step 2.
Step 1: The Problem Checklist
For example, let's suppose you reach the nutrition step, and discover that you are not getting enough vitamins and minerals, which can be consumed by the 5 portions of fruits and salads recommendation. You should not check that section, and immediately work on that. Usually you will start losing weight again.
Step 2: The Lifestyle Boost
Let's assume that you've gone through the problem checklist, and have applied the questioned mentioned to your lifestyle, but still can't seem to get rid of that extra fat. In this case follow this 4-step lifestyle boost. As we know, we should always adjust both food and activity if we want results. So below is a list for each of the two categories.
Some of these steps require effort. But that is exactly what will give you the boost you need to achieve those results. As Einstein famously said: It is crazy to keep doing the same actions and expect different results every time. It's time to change your routine, and give your weight, and waistline a boost.
