King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on Tuesday received the honorary doctorate degree awarded to him by King Saud University. Upon conferring the degree on him the King said, “Brothers I don't deserve all of this, someone else who worked deserves that; I only did what I could. I wish you all the best, and I am waiting for the nano(technology). Everyday I say, God willing it is coming.” The King also announced that he will be laying the foundation stone for the Girls University in Riyadh, next Wednesday. The function in Riyadh was attended by Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulrahman Al-Othman, President of King Saud University and several deputies and deans of faculties. Dr. Al-Anqari expressed his thanks to King Abdullah for accepting the honorary degree. He also highlighted the quantum leap witnessed by the higher education during King Abdullah's reign. Dr. Al-Othman lauded the King's unlimited support to the higher education sector and his encouragement of scientific research and its modern applications especially in the field of nano technology. Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, and the accompanying delegation where they discussed regional and international developments as well as relations between Saudi Arabia and the EU.
