Faisal, Emir of Makkah, received the Golden Helmsmen Award from the Jordanian chapter of the International Association “Golden Helmsmen of Tourism” on Monday for his accomplishments in developing tourism in the Kingdom and the Asir region in particular. The award, sponsored by King Abdullah II of Jordan, is given out once a year to individuals involved in tourism development around the world. The Emir received the award at an Interncontinental hotel in Jeddah from Aqel Al-Miltaji, a consultant to King Abdullah II of Jordan. “I receive this award, after my country has achieved great success in the tourism sector,” Prince Khaled Al-Faisal said. “It wasn't always easy to develop tourism in this country since tourism faced many objections by the enemies of development.” __
