The ministries of Social Affairs and Water and Electricity will begin settling of electricity bills for beneficiaries of social security as of Dec. 29. Yousuf Al-Othaimeen, Minister of Social Affairs, and Abdullah Al-Hussayen, Minister of Water and Electricity, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, described as, “proof of the attention the ministry gives to needy beneficiaries and a contribution by the ministry to settle, in part, electricity bills.” Al-Othaimeen said the agreement would be put into effect at the start of the next Hijra year in efforts at raising the standard of living of the Saudi citizens along with other programs such as the “school bag” initiative, home furnishing and a rise in social insurance pay. – Okaz __
