Spaniard Alvaro Quiros clinched his second European Tour victory when he took the Portugal Masters title on Sunday. Quiros closed with a four-under 68 for a 19-under-par 269 to win by three strokes from Briton Paul Lawrie, who shot a 67. Robert Karlsson produced a checkered final round 71 for a share of third place which still gave the Swede a large advanatage in Europe's order of merit race. After the weather-affected third round finished early on Sunday morning, Quiros held a one-stroke lead. Although he was briefly caught by Briton Ross Fisher, he was never overtaken. Two birdies to finish enhanced the 25-year-old Cadiz man's margin of victory as he followed up his South African Dunhill Champioship maiden win last year to collect the 500,000 euros ($673,500) first prize. “I hit the ball very well for the first three rounds but my putting was amazing in the last round,” Quiros said. Pressel well set Morgan Pressel moved into position for her first US LPGA Tour victory of the year, shooting a 5-under 67 for a share of the third-round lead in the Kapalua LPGA Classic on Saturday. The 20-year-old Pressel, Kapalua's touring pro, was tied with Brittany Lang (71), Carin Koch (68), Jee Young Lee (70) at 5-under 211. Pressel missed an easy opportunity to move to 6 under for the outright lead when she lipped out a 2-foot birdie putt on the final hole. She slapped herself on the rear and threw her putter onto her golf bag in disgust as she walked off the green. There was a traffic jam at the top with 16 players within three shots off the lead. Sun Young Yoo, Laura Diaz and Il Mi Chung shot 71s and were one stroke off the lead along with first-round leader Suzann Pettersen (72). Heather Young (67), Cristie Kerr (70) and Alena Sharp (72) were 3 under. Annika Sorenstam, who opened with a 77, shot a 71 and was at 2 over. The 72-time US LPGA Tour winner is making one of her last competitive appearances in the United States before leaving the tour at the end of the year. Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa was even par after a 73. DiMarco on Turnesa tail In Nevada, Chris DiMarco, seeking his first PGA title since 2002, fired a nine-under par 63 Saturday to move within one stroke of leader Marc Turnesa after the third round of the Shriners Hospital Open. DiMarco chipped in twice for eagles, at the par-5 ninth and 16th holes, and added his sixth birdie at the 18th to conclude his low round of the year and end 54 holes on 20-under 196 with US compatriots Ken Duke and Mike Allen. DiMarco, who fired a 64 Friday, won the most recent of his three PGA titles at the 2002 Phoenix Open but has not had a top-10 finish since last year's World Golf Invitational event at Akron, Ohio. DiMarco, who needed only 25 putts Saturday, underwent shoulder surgery a year ago and said only now is his game rounding into form. Turnesa fired a 62 on Thursday and a 64 Friday before grabbing the lead with a 69 Sunday. Sweden's Jesper Parnevik, also fighting to reach the PGA's top 125 money winners and keep his exemption for next year, fired a 66 to move five shots off the pace in quest of a top prize of $738,000.
