JEDDAH — The much awaited draws for admission to International Indian School, Jeddah were conducted on Saturday, in the Boys' Section. Considering the high demands for admission and the limited number of seats in the school, the system of allotting seats through a draw was introduced by the school authorities to maintain transparency. This year the school received 5,602 applications for admission to various classes out of which 1,538 were for Lower Kindergarten. About 2,000 parents had come to witness the draw. Detailed procedure of the draw and admission had been uploaded on the school website. Parents who had gathered for the draw were called to pick the reference slips from the Draw Box. The draw for LKG started as per schedule in the presence of the Head of Chancery and School Observer Mohammed Raghib Qureshi, Chairman of School Managing Committee Dr. Haroon Rashid and members of Managing Committee. As per policy 50% of the seats are reserved for applicants whose siblings are currently studying in the school and the remaining 50% for those who do not have any siblings studying in the school. Draws for the waiting list from classes UKG to IX were also drawn in the afternoon. Seats vacated in these classes through withdrawals will be allocated to the candidates in the Waiting List as per criteria uploaded on the website. Speaking before commencement of draw, Qureshi addressed the anxious parents and told them that every effort has been made to make the process totally transparent. Still if anyone has any reservation or suggestion, it will be discussed. Rashid welcomed the parents and expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements.
