While the article “Creating an effective civil society” by Samar Fatany (Feb. 22) raises valid points about NGOs and their benefits, I would like to point out that NGOs are often responsible for efforts to force change on an unwilling populace in the name of human rights, freedoms etc. I have nothing against charity groups and non-governmental organizations (NGO), especially advocacy groups, but NGOs care only about the group they represent and are ignorant about other groups whose interests might be harmed by their viewpoints.
