Lightning forced play to be called off early in the Portugal Masters third round on Saturday, with Swede Robert Karlsson still on target to become European number one-elect. The bad weather moved in to the Algarve in late afternoon with European order of merit leader Karlsson on the long 17th. He shares the lead on 14-under-par with playing partner Ross Fisher of Britain and Spain's Alvaro Quiros, who still has to finish five holes at the Oceanico Victoria course. Denmark's Soren Hansen holds a one-shot clubhouse lead on 13-under 203 after a seven-under 65. Hansenis anxious to clinch a first win of the season after numerous near misses. Lang shares lead Brittany Lang shot a 1-under 71 on Friday for a share of the second-round lead with Suzann Pettersen in the inaugural Kapalua LPGA Classic. Lang stayed aggressive despite the breezes that frustrated many players, getting birdies at Nos. 11 and 13 to match Pettersen (72) at 4-under 140. The morning groups enjoyed calmer conditions with the tradewinds again picking up in the afternoon. Early rain softened the slick greens at the Bay Course and the overcast conditions provided some relief from the sun. Annika Sorenstam followed her opening 77 with a 70 to make it to the weekend. Making one of her last competitive appearances before leaving the tour at the end of the year, Sorenstam needed an eagle to get to 3-over 147 - the cut was at 4 over. The 72-time LPGA Tour winner hasn't missed a cut since the 2006 Michelob Ultra. Canadian Alena Sharp (67) and Laura Diaz (71) were at 3 under along with South Koreans Yoo Sun-young (71), Lee Jee-young (70), Oh Ji-young (71) and Chung Il-mi. Another sweet 63 for Kuchar American Matt Kuchar shrugged off a run of seven missed cuts on the PGA Tour by surging into a tie for the lead in Friday's second round of the Las Vegas Open in Nevada. A stroke off the pace overnight, Kuchar fired a second successive nine-under-par 63 at the TPC Summerlin to finish level with compatriot Marc Turnesa at 18-under 126. Tour rookie Turnesa, co-leader with Zach Johnson at the start of another benign day of low scoring, spectacularly holed out from 159 yards to eagle the last for a 64. Johnson, the 2007 US Masters champion and winner of last week's Texas Open, shot a 65 to lie one off the pace, a stroke ahead of fellow American John Mallinger (64). Of the big names in the field, 1993 champion Davis Love III carded a 67 to lie nine strokes off the pace, two ahead of former world number one David Duval and Canadian left-hander Mike Weir who returned matching 68s. The cut fell at six under, matching the lowest on the PGA Tour, with US Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger and double major winner John Daly among those missing out.
