DUBAI — A new dance-style known as the “Penguin Dance” has witnessed a wave of popularity among Saudi youth. Unlike other popular dances such as “Harlem Shake” and “Gangam Style,” most “Penguin Dance” videos are being circulated from the Kingdom. The dance steps originate from Finnish folklore, but has more recently been mixed with music from a penguin cartoon by an Albanian man who dedicated the song to his sister on the occasion of her wedding. Participants of the dance stand behind each other holding each other's waists perform coordinated moves based on the music‘s rhythm. The dance begins with two left and right kicks followed by a jump forward and then backward.
