MAKKAH – Four Pakistani Umrah pilgrims died on Monday midnight when their bus overturned on Makkah-Jeddah Expressway. Seventeen pilgrims sustained injuries, and the condition of three of them is serious. The accident took place near the Bahra bridge. All the injured pilgrims were taken to hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah. Three air ambulances and 21Civil Defense and Red Crescent teams took part in the rescue operation. Ali Bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah region, said that their operation room received a call at 1.22 a.m. about the accident. Ten injured pilgrims were admitted to Jeddah's Al-Thaghr Hospital, King Abdulaziz Hospital and National Guard Hospital while others were airlifted to Makkah's Al-Zaher and Al-Nour hospitals. Police have started an investigation into the causes of the accident.
