Ittihad continued its unbeaten run in the Saudi Premier League to maintain its top spot in the standings after a 2-1 victory over Al-Shabab at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here on Sunday. First half goals through Naif Hazazi and Saleh Al-Saqri put the host team in a strong position while Abdo Atif scored the lone goal for Al-Shabab's minutes before the break. The win earned Ittihad its 13th point ahead of its match against city rival Al-Ahli next week. Al-Hilal played out a goalless draw against Al-Ahli at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. The match lacked vigor and the second half in particular was dull. Ahli had started the match without its ace striker Malek Al-Hawsawi, who suffered an injury two days ago. The match, however, saw Swedish international Christian Wilhelmsson play in Hilal colors after he signed for the defending champion in August. The 28-year-old midfielder, who was in Sweden's squad for Euro 2008, disappointed many of the Hilal fans in his first outing especially after the deal broke the record in Saudi League history with more than 8 million euros. The goalless draw saw the Riyadh side slip into third spot with 10 points, one behind its home rival Al-Nasr, which beat Al-Raed 1-0 in Qassim thanks to a first-half goal by Mohammed Al-Shahrani. At King Abdul Aziz Sports City in Makkah, Suliman Amido scored in the dying time to seal a 2-1 victory over Njaran. Essa Al-Muhiani put the Makkah side ahead in the first half before Brazilian Antonio drew level the game after the break. In the 93rd minute, Amido powered a short-range ball into Ali Al-Amri's net and put Al-Wehdah in the sixth spot in the table with seven points. In another clash , Al-Watani and Al-Hazm drew 3-3 in their match played at the King Khaled Sports City in Tabuk. In the fifth round encounter On Tuesday Al-Ittifaq hosts Abha in Dammam.
