Tension prevailed and indefinite curfew continues for the second day in the riot hit Bhainsa town of Adilabad district Saturday as the funerals were performed for the four victims of yFriday's violence amid tight security arrangements. A curfew like situation also prevailed in other parts of Adilabad district specially in Nirmal town and Karimnagar town which also witnessed incidents of communal violence last night. Four persons were killed and 15 others were injured, four of them seriously, when violence broke out between the members of two communities during the Durga immersion procession in Bhainsa. 40 shops and 20 vehicles were also burnt by the mobs. The state home minister K Jana Reddy told the media in Hyderabad that four platoons of the AP Special police and additional police from other districts was rushed to Adilabad to restore peace. “All the four people died in the group clashes and no body was killed in police firing”, the Home Minister clarified. The armed policemen were patrolling the deserted street of the town as the worst hit Post Office road presented the scene of a war zone. Medical stores, general stores, cloth and Bangle stores were among the shops burnt and looted by the mob. Their goods were still strewn on the roads. Poornachandra Rao, the inspector general of police told the media in Bhainsa that the situation was peaceful and no new untoward incidents were reported since last night. “Now our attention is focused on apprehending the culprits responsible for yesterday's violence. Many of them have been identified”, he said. A group of five persons armed with swords, iron rods and sticks, going in an autorickshaw were caught near the main market around midnight and they were being questioned. __
