Saudi Gazette report RIYADH – A specific-period labor contract would automatically get extended for an unlimited period if both parties continue to enforce the contract with consent, according to an amended Labor Law Article approved by the Shoura Council here on Monday. The amended Article also states that if a labor contract, which specifies a condition for renewal, is renewed three times in a row by the two parties will automatically get extended for an unlimited period of time. Fahaad Al-Hamad, Assistant President of the Shoura Council, said it approved the amendments after listening to the viewpoints of the Administration and Human Resources Committee. He said that the Shoura endorsed the amendments proposed by the committee and decided to retain the content with a change in the number of renewals and its period. The Shoura also decided to demand King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) to attract more Saudi women researchers to work in various sectors in the university. It also asked KACST to funds and support innovative research projects of Saudi youths, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
