Mane', Minister of Health, has ordered the formation of committees in all ministry hospitals and primary health centers to oversee patients' rights. The move by the Ministry is designed to improve the quality of health services in public hospitals and health centers and enact rules and guidelines defining patients' rights, Al-Hayat said. The Ministry of Health said in a statement on Friday that the committees would comprise of, among others, hospital managers, medical managers, social workers, patient relations officers, quality control officers and training officers. Assistant Director General of Primary Health Care at the Health Directorate will chair the Patients' Rights Committee (PRC) with members from Quality Control and Director of Health Media and Relations. Dr. Yaqub Bin Yusuf Al-Mazrou'i, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health for Therapeutic Medicine, said the PRCs are technically linked to a higher committee at the Ministry. Dr. Al-Mane', he said, had assigned Dr. Khaled Merghalani, the Ministry spokesman, to head the higher committee. __
