‘Witness and Martyr', the life and times of King Faisal today
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 10 - 2008

Faisal, Witness and Martyr” exhibition, an event celebrating the life of the late King Faisal, opens today at the Jeddah International Exhibition Center.
The exhibition, organized by the King Faisal Charitable Foundation and the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, portrays the life, reign and achievements of the third head of the Saudi state, and hopes to educate the new generation on the former king.
The show is divided into three sections titled “People”, “Activities” and “Media”, with the first section devoted to Hijazi families connected to King Faisal.
In a highly-anticipated event, individuals who knew King Faisal will narrate their tales to an invited public every Thursday and Friday of the 45-day exhibition.
The Activities section will give students in universities and schools the chance to visit the show in evening.
The Jeddah Culture and Arts Society will present folkloric performances, and there will be a symposium on the diplomacy of the King Faisal era.
The Media section makes use of the latest multi-media technology to present the life and times of the king.
Saturday – ladies only
Princess Al-Anoud Bint Abdullah Bint Muhammed, wife of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Emir of Makkah, is scheduled to open Saturday the ladies' display in the presence of daughters and granddaughters of the late King Faisal.
Princess Mashail Bint Khalid Al-Faisal, supervisor of the event, said the display presents rare collections of books and personal effects of the late King and a photographic portrayal of the time.
The display, she said, looks at an important phase of the Kingdom's history and sheds light on different aspects of the king's history and his contribution to the Arab and Islamic Ummah.
She described the event as a unique opportunity for the young generation to learn about King Faisal, who viewed Saudi women as full partners in the country's sustainable development and key players in progress and development. – Okaz __
