JEDDAH – There are so many YouTube shows out there but only few claimed recognition and managed to attract a high number of viewers online. One of these online programs is Khambalah, a sketch comedy show from the producers of La Yekthar where each episode introduces a different cultural issue in a funny and entertaining way. The show is credited to influence local pop culture with three million average views per episode. Basically, the name Khambalah is a random word created by the producers to mean nothing and everything. The show has 10-11 Saudi team members including actors who change every episode depending on the content it's presenting. The show managed to attract viewers from all regions due to its sarcastic content and the inclusion of different accents and backgrounds. In one episode, titled “Job opening” they make fun of bureaucracy when applying for jobs showing a desperate man with the green file. Some episodes are even filmed outside the Kingdom. The episode “Stereotype” was filmed in the States and showed how a group of Saudi students try to change their identities of fear from being stereotyped as terrorists after Boston bombing. The show succeeded in getting 30.7 million total video views with 2.1 million monthly video views and a total of 459,315 subscribers. The show is produced by Telfaz11, a Riyadh based Internet television network that has attracted top internet talents. Telfaz11 is trying to positively change the society's perception of local creativity and shed the light on local creatives through online programs. It is owned and powered by C3 Films, an online content production company based in Riyadh. Telfaz11's Network has over 250,000,000 views and over 2,400,000 subscribers.
