Faheem Al-Hamid Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The new agreement to recruit Indian domestic workers to Saudi Arabia will put an end to the role of middlemen, according to a senior Indian diplomat. Speaking to Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Sibi George, Charge d'Affairs at the Embassy of India, said the agreement will be signed during the visit of Labor Minister Adel Fakieh to New Delhi soon. “The agreement is aimed at streamlining recruitment of domestic helpers from India in a way putting an end to any role for middlemen permanently,” he said. The agreement, which will be signed by Fakieh and Indian Overseas Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, will solve all the outstanding problems that were noticed while sending Indian domestic workers to the Kingdom in the past. “There are provisions in the agreement to safeguard the rights and specifying the duties of both the employer and employee. The domestic workers will be trained and certified from licensed medical centers,” he said. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education announced that only those private schools that met the required percentage of Saudization are entitled to get employment visas from the next academic year onwards. According to a circular, issued by the foreign education department at the ministry, foreign and international schools are exempted from this condition. The ministry has also directed private schools to submit copy of their commercial registration and other documents.
