Robots are taking over the world! Well not all of it, but now they're big power players in the toy box.
Robo-fy yourself with RoboMe from WowWee. This is the company that created Robosapien and Roboraptor. Their latest tech toy brings together personality and technology in new ways. RoboMe is a completely customizable robotic avatar that makes good use of your iPhone or iPod touch.
RoboMe is programmable. Give it the screen face and personality that you like. Multiple sensors on RoboMe can detect objects. It will even know if someone shakes its hand and it can explore its surroundings and avoid obstacles. RoboMe has Remote Visual Telepresence. This means that when your iPhone or iPod Touch is connected to RoboMe, you can use another Apple device to connect to the robot and see and hear what it sees and hears. You can also control its movements remotely. Send RoboMe to sneak into the kitchen and see what's cooking for dinner so you can disappear before the vegetables are served. Watch videos of RoboMe in action at http://www.wowwee.com/robome/
Another cool robot that is also powered by the iPhone or iPod touch is Romotive's ROMO. This robot uses an iPhone or iPod touch as the hardware for his brain. After downloading ROMO's free app, be introduced to ROMO's funny personality as you journey with him across the galaxy, playing challenging missions, which introduce the simple concepts behind the programs and software that run our high tech world. ROMO's abilities and features will expand over time as you find new ways to play and learn with him. ROMO also acts an advanced communications platform. With video calling, you can invite friends and family from anywhere in the world to drive your ROMO while streaming two-way audio and video. ROMO can also be controlled via Wi-Fi from any iOS device, letting you to send him out on journeys throughout the house. Meet ROMO through http://vimeo.com/64614558
