RIYADH — The alumni of Aligarh Muslim University's (AMU) Riyadh chapter organized a Sir Syed Memorial open inter-school English essay writing competition recently in the premises of International Indian Public School Riyadh (IIPSR). The president of AMU Alumni, Dr. Mohammad Ahmad Badshah, was overwhelmed by the large number of students both boys and girls from grades 10 - 12 who participated in this competition. Separate seating arrangements of girls and boys were made with the provision of male and female staff invigilators. The entire competition was conducted in a very conducive environment and the participants expressed their talent of writing on the given topic "Vision of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan for establishing Aligarh Muslim University." Dr. Badshah said that this competition was a part of this year's Sir Syed Day celebrations and it was organized by his alumni group to spread knowledge and information among the young generation about Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his vision for educational mission. The competition was aimed at developing awareness among the upcoming ambassadors of India to acquaint themselves with the teachings of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and get updated with Aligarh Muslim University in India and its current curriculum which may help them for a possibility of pursuing their higher studies from AMU, a prestigious seat of learning in India. The students were glad and thankful to AMU Alumni for providing them with an opportunity to participate and learn about AMU and its founder in such a unique manner. The executive body members of AMU Alumni Suhail Ahmad, Salman Khalid, Syed Muhammad Mutayyab, Mohammad Arshad Ali Khan, Dr. Abdul Ahad Choudhry, Jamal Ashraf and Dr. Abdur Raheem Khan were present there to coordinate the event successfully. Vice President Mohd. Nasim Akhtar thanked the Principal of IIPSR, Abdul Azeez, and his staff members and the school's managing committee of IIPSR for their presence and praiseworthy cooperation. Dr. Badshah has confirmed that all entries are being evaluated by qualified and suitable judges and the winners of this competition will be honored by the chief guest of this year's Sir Syed Day to be held on November 28. — SG
