An exhibition on the history and achievements of the late King Faisal aimed at the younger Saudi generation will be inaugurated here on Friday. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, will open the 45-day exhibition at the International Center for Conferences here. The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies has successfully hosted exhibitions on the subject in Riyadh and Abha which drew large appreciative crowds. The center will again organize the event to allow Saudis and expatriates to learn more about King Faisal and his philosophy. “This exhibition is meant to review the history of the late King Faisal,” said Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the King Faisal Center. “It's going to be about his struggle to serve the country and its citizens. It provides a lot of information and photographs about his international and political stands.” “The Exhibition ‘Shahid and Shaheed (Eyewitness and Martyr) combines the two phases of King Faisal's life wherein he dealt with political issues early in his life and the other phase when he was martyred,” said Prince Turki. The exhibition will showcase very rare photographs and video clips of the late king and some of his personal belongings along with several handwritten scripts. Visitors from all age groups (women, men, and children) will be welcome at the exhibition starting Monday. For the first time in the Kingdom, visitors will be able to see and hear King Faisal's speeches, as well as see his meetings with citizens. “The citizens were close to King Faisal's heart who was ready to hear and solve all their problems,” added Al-Turky. “We want to show the younger generation how wise King Faisal was especially when he started to work as an official representative of his father in Europe when he was only 13-years-old,” Al-Turki said. Plans are underway to host the exhibition in Dammam after Jeddah. On the international level, the exhibition will also be staged in many countries including the Gulf states. “We hope that the exhibition will be helpful in finding solutions to political issues in the Middle East, especially the problems of peace in Palestine,” said Al-Turki. __
