NEW YORK CITY — The Indiana Pacers stretched their NBA season-opening winning streak to a franchise-best 7-0 Saturday with a 96-91 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Pacers forward Paul George led all scorers with 24 points as Indiana handed Brooklyn their first home defeat of the season. David West added 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Roy Hibbert and Lance Stephenson finished with 15 points apiece for the Pacers. The franchise's previous best start to a season was a 6-0 opening in 1970-71, when they were in the old American Basketball Association. The Nets, too, had four players score in double figures. Deron Williams had 17 points and 10 assists and Joe Johnson added 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Brook Lopez chipped in 16 and Paul Pierce scored 15 for the Nets, who trimmed a 10-point Pacers lead to three with less than three minutes remaining. After a foul by Williams, Indiana's George Hill sank two free throws and George drained a fade away jump shot to stretch the lead back to seven. Brooklyn responded with baskets from Lopez and Williams to again close the gap to three with a minute and a half to play. Neither team scored again until West's two free throws in the waning seconds sealed it for the Pacers. Celtics 111, Heat 110: Forward Jeff Green hit a buzzer-beating, fall-away three-pointer over LeBron James as the Boston Celtics stunned the Miami Heat 111-110. Boston won their third game in a row after starting the season 0-4. Green, who scored 43 points in a loss to Miami last season, led the Celtics with 24 points. James played through a sore back and finished two rebounds short of a triple-double, with 25 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Raptors 115, Jazz 91: Forward Tyler Hansbrough scored a season-best 23 points as the Toronto Raptors snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the winless Utah Jazz 115-91. Hawks 104, Magic 94: The Atlanta Hawks won their 11th straight game over the Orlando Magic, 104-94, behind a balanced attack that featured six players in double figures. Grizzlies 108, Warriors 90: The Memphis Grizzlies returned to their dominating post play and beat the Golden State Warriors 108-90. Clippers 107, Rockets 94: After closing the third quarter with a tip-in at the buzzer and opening the fourth with a three-point play, Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford drilled a pair of three-pointers down the stretch of a 107-94 win over the Houston Rockets. Cavaliers 127, 76ers 125 (double OT): The third time was a charm for Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, who failed to make winning shots at the end of regulation and first overtime but would not be denied with 0.6 seconds left in the second overtime. Mavericks 91, Bucks 83: Guard Monta Ellis had 18 points and five assists in his return to Milwaukee as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Bucks 91-83. Trail Blazers 96, Kings 85: For the second straight night, LaMarcus Aldridge was a problem the Sacramento Kings could not solve as the eighth-year forward dominated inside with 22 points and 14 rebounds, and the Portland Trail Blazers completed a 96-85 victory. — Agencies
