RIYADH — The Special Penal Court in Riyadh imprisoned 17 defendants out of 18 of a group that participated in terrorist activities. The court in its verdicts gave the jail term, issued a ban order against travel and sought deportation of expatriates among them after completing their prison term. The prison sentences ranged from 25 to five years from the date of detention. Seven of the defendants had completed their prison terms. The charges against them include the formation of a terrorist cell that strove to kill innocents, including expatriates, blow up properties, kill security men, assist in preparing rigged vehicles, while some of them adopted Takfiri ideology that violates the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah. Some were also charged with impersonating security men and forging identification papers. The charges also included renting a residence so as to shelter terrorists, possession of weapons, ammunition, bombs and RPGs. – SG/SPA
