Aiming to promote Jeddah as a center for custom designed men's clothes, the city will host the first men's fashion show in Durrat Al-Arus during Eid Al-Adha holidays (the first half of December). “Our main aim is to show that Jeddah has economic openness, attractive tourist spots, female bazaars, Islamic occasions, and finally male fashion shows. After Eid Al-Adha, we will have visitors from different countries keen to know more about the Kingdom's traditions,” said Abdullah Asad Sendi, head of the organizing committee. The fashion show will be one of several international events Jeddah will host during the coming year. “Such an event will help to encourage talented people,” added Sendi. Jeddah has already produced many talented Saudis in this field, he added. “Actually, we have many well-known designers who portray the Kingdom's traditions and fashions abroad. We need to spot the right talent and encourage the new generation to take part in such events,” he said. “We will select famous brands of both formal and casual attire and together with fashion experts concentrate only on clothes that fit the Saudi man,” he said. Traditional fashions will also be on display. “We are going to show our non-Saudi visitors the Kingdom's different cultures, especially as found in a large cosmopolitan city like Jeddah,” he said. Several expatriates have also left an indelible mark on Saudi culture and traditions. “We will blend the old and new items required by men such as cars, watches, shoes, and perfumes,” Sendi explained. __
