The article "Schoolgirls accuse expat teachers of selling notes" (Oct. 28), reports that female students at a government run school in Al-Jouf have accused their Saudi teachers of selling notes and of being involved in promoting private tuition. However, it should be pointed out that it is well known that teachers at Indian schools are also doing illegal private tuition for their own students. These teachers do not provide proper instruction in the classroom in order to force students pay for private tuition. The school management is aware of this practice and has given it silent permission. As a result, students of financially poor parents who cannot afford to pay for private tuition do not get proper teaching in school. The Ministry of Education and the school management should take the appropriate action against these teachers. Toms, Online response
