MADINAH/AL-QUNFUDHA — Expatriate workers will not be allowed to work on part-time basis with other than their sponsors after the amnesty period which ends on Nov. 3, a senior Ministry of Labor official said on Thursday. Abdullah Muhammad Al-Olayyan, director general of the ministry's branch in Makkah region, said no leniency will be shown to any expatriate found to be in violation of the residency and labor laws after the expiry of the grace period. An intensive inspection campaign which will be launched immediately after the end of the grace period will spare no one. Violating establishments will be dealt with strictly, the official said. Informed sources in the ministry, meanwhile, said if the paperwork of any expatriate related to the campaign to correct the status is received by the last day of the grace period and is not acted upon by the authorities, the person will continue to enjoy his amnesty. All paperwork should be fed in the database before the end of office hours on the last day of the current Hijra year. The sources also said work is going on at high speed in all related government authorities. Awwad Al-Hazmi, director general of the Labor Office in Madinah, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that any transaction that is entered in the database on the last day of Dhul Hijja will be processed.
