JEDDAH — femi9 actively participated this month, widely known as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to encourage women to lead a healthy lifestyle to reduce the chances of acquiring breast cancer.
femi9 hosted the “The Pink Envelope” initiative, an all ladies event at Park Hyatt, to offer their support to breast cancer victims and other women.
Inspiring speakers of the day were Dr. Suzan Al Kaf, obstetrician/gynecologist consultant Al Mashfa Hospital and assistant professor at King AbdulAziz University , Dr. Soha Al Qas, nutritionist, and Reem Al Bakri, an internationally accredited fitness trainer and operations manager at Gold's Gym.
Al Kaf shared with attendees factual information about breast cancer, and corrected myths that are not scientifically proven.
She also addressed the importance of having regular health checkups and encouraged healthy living.
She said: “Having a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly are the best ways to help prevent illnesses.”
Al Qas spoke about healthy foods that help boost the immune system, such as, cauliflower, garlic, onion, and green leafy vegetables. “Including high amounts of vegetables in your diet will give your body the necessary resistance and protection considering their significant nutritional value.”
Al Bakri said that the best workout plan is to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, five times a week. “When it comes to exercise, there is no difference in age or gender, so get up and get active.”
The event also held a question and answer session where the distinguished speakers clarified the attendees' doubts. It was followed by the announcement of raffle draw winners.
At the end, the attendees were asked to write a special message, a tip, or a resolution relating to health and wellness. The notes were then tied to pink balloons and released into the skies over the Bride of the Red Sea, commencing the launch of the femi9 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
Eyad Mashat, CEO of femi9, expressed his gratitude for all the attendees and specially thanked Al-Mashfa Hospital, Gold's Gym, Planet Beach and Jeddah Beauty Blog for their remarkable support in this campaign.
