SAN MARTIN, California — Jimmy Walker closed with a five-under 66 to capture the Frys.com Open and record his first USPGA Tour victory Sunday. The 34-year-old American had to come from behind to win at the CordeValle Golf Club as it took Walker 188 tries to get his first victory on the Tour. “I think it'll sink in after a while. I'm still feeling the adrenaline right now. It feels like a release right now, but it feels really good,” said Walker, who reached 17-under 267 overall. Fiji's Vijay Singh (68) placed second, two strokes back as he finished at 15-under par 269. Third-round leader Brooks Koepka, who was playing in the group behind of Walker, stumbled to a one-over 72. For Singh it was his best USPGA Tour showing since finishing runner-up at the 2011 Northern Trust Open. Koepka was joined in third place at 14-under-par 270 by Kevin Na (64), Scott Brown (64) and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama (66). George McNeill (71) and Brian Harman (65) shared seventh place at minus-13, while Will MacKenzie (69), Billy Hurley (68) and Max Homa (69) were one shot back at 12-under-par 272. Walker tapped in his three-footer for par at No. 18 to seal the victory. The well-travelled Walker said he appreciates this victory more than most. “I wasn't good enough to play golf on tour when I was at 20 or 21 like these guys are. They're really good,” said Walker, who turned pro in 2001. Lynn storms to victory England's David Lynn came back from six shots off the pace to win his first European Tour event in nearly a decade at the Portugal Masters Sunday. Lynn, who was runner-up to Rory McIlroy at the 2012 PGA Championship, made nine birdies and a bogey to record an eight-under par 63 and claim his first victory since the 2004 Dutch Open with an 18-under par total of 266. South Africa's Justin Walters was one shot behind Lynn in second spot at the Oceanico Victoria course in Vilamoura, while Stephen Gallacher of Scotland, Austria's Bernd Wiesberger and overnight leader Paul Waring of England finished two behind the leader. Scotland's Scott Jamieson failed to back up his stunning third-round of 60, suffering three bogies on the back nine for a one-over par 72 to fade to a tie for 13th. The Scot became just the 17th player to shoot a 60 on the European Tour. Schwartzel bags China Masters South Africa's Charl Schwartzel won the China Masters Sunday, closing with a 4-under 68 for a one-stroke victory over Darren Clarke and 2012 winner Liang Wenchong. Schwartzel, the 2011 Masters winner, had a 9-under 279 total on Nanshan International's Montgomerie Course. He earned $180,000 in the OneAsia Tour event. “It's always very satisfying to win,” Schwartzel said. “I've played a lot of golf tournaments and done a lot of traveling in the past few months and it felt like I've been playing really good golf with no results, so it's nice to have something finally go your way.” Clarke and Liang shot 72. — Agencies
