JEDDAH – The Saudi Chapter of Kerala Relief Wing (KRW) has completed all preparations to serve the Haj pilgrims, according to its Chief Patron K.M. Basheer. As many as 400 KRW volunteers will swing into action to serve the pilgrims in Makkah and the holy sites of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, he said. “We will deploy specially trained volunteers to assists elderly pilgrims to use the Mashair train facility. Our volunteers won accolades from the Saudi authorities for their commendable work during last Haj,” he added. As part of expanding volunteer work, an operations committee has been formed under the Saudi chapter. C.H. Basheer is the head of the committee while K.M. Muhammad Kutty is the coordinator and Abdul Raheem Othukkungal is the general captain. C.H. Basheer told Saudi Gazette that a batch of KRW volunteers has already arrived in Makkah's Aziziyah and have started serving pilgrims. “Training sessions were conducted for our volunteers from Riyadh region and the Eastern Province. There will be a training session for volunteers from the Western region in Jeddah on Oct. 11,” Basheer added. — SG
