Carrying the catchphrase “We Don't Forget”, a special section at the ongoing 23rd Annual Janadriyah Culture and Heritage Festival in the Riyadh region honors the country's martyrs. The section has photos and biographies of the brave men who gave their lives in the country's fight against terrorism, said Col. Obaid Al-Baqa'awi, head of the Martyrs' Families Care Department at the Ministry of Interior, which has put up the display. “These brave soldiers … died defending the sanctity of their religion and their homeland,” he said. “We are following the directives of Minister of Interior Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz and his assistant for Security Affairs Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, who highly appreciate what those ‘real men' have offered.” This is the third year that the ministry of Interior is taking part in the Festival. “We want to always remind people of what they (the martyrs) have done to prevent terror acts that targeted their country and compatriots,” Col. Al-Baqa'awi said. He said the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques would never forget the families left behind by the martyrs. The government has so far offered some SR126 million to the families of martyrs. Aid given from the Martyrs' Families Care Department to the families is as follows: SR100,000 direct aid to the family (immediately after death) SR500,000 as aid for housing. Payment of a maximum SR500,000 of the family's debts. SR3,000 monthly payments for each one of the parents and the wife (or wives) of the martyr. An annual SR20,000 for each member of the family, given on Eid Al-Fitr. Additionally, the department gives the families moral support as follows: Raising the rank of the martyr (the family will be paid according to the new salary) Awarding the King Abdul Aziz class three medal of honor to the martyr Appointing the martyr's relatives and sons in military sectors and providing transportation Appointing the martyr's relatives in ministries and other governmental sectors and providing transportation. The Interior ministry has submitted a request to the King for giving the families priority in loans from the Real Estate Development Fund and for writing off payments due for previous borrowings from the Fund. The aid includes medical treatment within the country and abroad at the expense of the Ministry of Interior for the sons, parents and wives of the martyrs. They are also eligible for special treatment in a number of governmental health centers including the Interior Ministry's medical centers, Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz City for Humane Services. Other assistance includes helping the sons and brothers of martyr's get seats in universities, colleges, scientific and medical institutes and also schooling at private schools at the expense of the Interior Ministry. A district in Riyadh is to be named the Martyrs District (Al- Shohada'a district) and each street in it will be named after a martyr. At the martyr's city or village of origin, a main street will be named after him. __
