DOHA – In preparation for the Haj season, Qatar Airways will operate additional flights to Jeddah from Tuesday (Oct. 8) through Sunday (Oct. 20). The additional flights will meet the increased demand by customers who will be travelling during this time for pilgrimage or business. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said “it pleases us to offer more travel options to Jeddah during the Hajj season this year. We wish pilgrims to holy Makkah a wonderful experience.” Airports in the region are expected to receive a surge of pilgrims travelling to Makkah this year. To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has heavily invested in expanding and developing its facilities and processes, hence the allowance for additional flights. On Oct. 2, Qatar Airways will launch its sixth destination in Saudi Arabia, Ta'if. The airline currently provides services to Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Qassim, and Riyadh. The airline has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 129 aircraft to 131 key business and leisure destinations worldwide.
Qatar Airways was presented with three honors at the annual Skytrax 2013 World Airline Awards held during the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, France in June. The airline was awarded World's Best Business Class, World's Best Business Class Lounge and, for the second consecutive year, Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East. The airline has also been named Best Airline in the Middle East for the seventh year in a row. – SG
