RIYADH – Minister of Social Affairs Yusuf Al-Othaimeen praised the initiative of a Saudi businesswoman to fund a major orphanage project for young women. He urged all affluent people in Saudi society, especially businessmen, to consider Ayshah Al-Rashed a role model in charity work. He said: “Ayshah stands out as a unique example of joint responsibility and creative participation in social and humanitarian work. “All affluent people in society should follow suit in such charitable initiatives.” Al-Rashed spent more than SR21 million to build a new orphanage headquarters for Al-Ahsa Young Women's Society. The project aims at addressing not only the residential problems of orphans but also a number of social problems faced by them. The new complex includes facilities for education, training and teaching as well as for sports, cultural and recreational activities for more than 100 girls. There is also a hall for social events and an administrative division for the project's operation and management. Al-Othaimeen said Al-Rashed's gesture was a source of pride for Saudi society. “The charitable initiative by Ayshah can be considered an excellent example of benevolence. “Moreover, all others can emulate her through focusing on social and humanitarian work.”
