Over 5,000 visitors to the four-day ‘Magic Carpet' exhibition also named ‘Bussat Al-Reeh' gave wholeheartedly to charity. Charitable organizations and non-profit associations and committees from the Kingdom and other Arab countries were part of the expo which concluded here on Thursday. Saudi women showcased their handicrafts at the exhibition held at Jeddah Hilton with cooperation from more than 100 companies from the Kingdom and abroad. Generated revenues are earmarked for the support of the Foundation's patient services, i.e., the National Home Health Care Foundation (NHHCF). This annual event has the support of Princess Sarah Al-Anqary who this year donated SR500,000 to be used to provide aid to the poor and the needy, Zahra Al-Khaldi from the Intellect Media, said. The event, designated for women, largely contributed to the exhibition's success. According to Nadia Refaat Sheikh, the greatest achievement of the expo during the year was that it was held in Riyadh for the first time after the great success achieved during the exhibitions organized in Jeddah for the past nine years. Yasmin Maktabi, from Lebanon, owner of Iwan Maktabi Co. for Carpets and Antiques, said they were looking forward to introducing more Islamic antiques and cultural designs in carpets. Reem Nazir displayed her paintings representing the culture of Saudi Arabia. Selim Mouzannar, owner of Mouzannar Jewelry, said that several Saudi women had shown interest in the Lebanese cultural designs as there was a wide range of unique items made with different precious stones. Shreen Masaid from the Household Stand said that charity in any form ought to be welcomed. “This expo in Ramadan provided a good opportunity for people to contribute to charity,” she said. __
