On the occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I wish to convey sincere felicitations and best wishes on my behalf, the Government of Pakistan and the entire Kingdom-based Pakistani community to King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia. Relations between our two countries have always been deeply rooted with the touch of cordiality and fraternity. These relations have been further augmented by commonality of religion, geographical proximity and enormous services being rendered by our countrymen in multi-faceted dimensions which gave imputes in building the basic infrastructure of the Kingdom in its early booming days. King Abdullah, like his forefathers, has utilized the best of his leadership qualities for the uplift of Saudi people. Being a sagacious leader, he launched a gigantic project of mega economic cities, improved the health facilities and initiated higher educational system by establishing eight new universities in Madina, Qassim, Jizan, Najran, Al-Jouf, Arar, Sakaka and Tabuk. King Abdullah has empowered women by protecting their rights and allowing them to avail numerous job opportunities in those sphere of life where women are mostly needed. Being the largest country in the Gulf region, King Abdullah's economic and social reforms have transformed Saudi Arabia into an example of development and prosperity for other countries in the region. Saudi Arabia enjoys the status of a key player in the comity of nations vis-à-vis its bilateral, regional and international clout. The Kingdom has its say on all matters i.e. political, geographical, economical and religious being faced by the Muslim Ummah. The King has also evinced his personal interest in enhancing the standard of Saudis in the fields of economic, political and education by visiting a number of countries around the globe in his 3-year rule. Saudi Arabia represents a voice of sanity, understanding and compassion. In general, all Muslim countries especially Pakistan consult Saudi Arabia on issues of mutual interest. The World Interfaith Conference held in Madrid under the auspices of King Abdullah has not only added another feather to his crown but has also elevated his political posture among the world leaders. This initiative has brought more harmony among the major religions of the world. The Government and people of Pakistan have due reverence for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the people of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We sincerely pray for his long life and for the continued progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia. – The writer is Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. __
