JEDDAH — The first batch of 1,056 Thai pilgrims arrived in Jeddah on Saturday. Thai Consul General Chalee Sakolvari and other consulate officials gave a warm welcome to the pilgrims at King Abdulaziz International Airport. A total of 10,400 Thais are scheduled to perform Haj this year. “Most of the pilgrims are from the southern part of Thailand. Therefore, every year chartered flights have been arranged by the government to facilitate and transport them from their domiciles. “This year, Thai Airways International carried pilgrims from Hadyai and Narathiwat airports, Consul General Sakolvari said. “We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the Saudi government and concerned authorities for their efforts in preparing and arranging everything to facilitate and welcome pilgrims from Thailand to enable them to perform their rituals in ease and comfort, Sakolvari added.
