Riding a Kawasaki jetski watercraft Faisal Salem Al-Gethemi won the first Jetskiing Championship which was held as part of the Jeddah Summer Festival here. The winners were honored at an awards ceremony hosted by Arabian Auto Agencies Co. Ltd. (AAA) for sport equipment on Wednesday. The second and third winners rode Sea Doo and Yamaha jetskis. In all, 45 competitors took part in the Ultra 250 X and 150 X jetski categories, and nine others in the jetski stand-up category (SX-R800) in the competition held over three days recently. Six of the winners in the three categories, who rode the Kawasaki jetski watercraft, were presented with cash awards, vouchers and plaques by Bassam Abdul-Aziz Fathi, National Sales Manager of AAA. “I was faced with too many challenges, but am immensely pleased with my performance and hope to take part in future jetskiing events,” Al-Gethemi, the top winner in the Ultra 250X category, said. He received a cash prize of SR5,000 for emerging first in two races - an open race and the other based on time. In the 150X category, the first and second winners each received a voucher for SR2,000, and the third and fourth winners were presented with vouchers for SR1,000 and SR800, respectively. The winners who were honored on the occasion included Shahr Qari, Nabil Bakeer, Bandar Qari and Hani Qari (all SX-R800) and Fahd Al-Gethemi (STX-15F). Fathi congratulated the winners and said he was delighted to see six of the winners using the Kawasaki jet skis in the competition.
