DAMMAM – A 37-year-old Filipino national will soon be a free man after being incarcerated for more than 12 years on murder charges. Rodelio Lanuza stabbed a Saudi citizen to death during a fight in which he claimed was out of self-defense. A court in Dammam sentenced him to death in 2002 but the sentence was never carried out. The committee in charge of resolving disputes helped in paying the blood money (SR3,000,000) for Lanuza, who embraced Islam in prison and got married to a Filipino nurse in Dammam. Maj. Gen. Abdul Rahman Al-Ruwaisan, Eastern Province prison director, said Lanuza will be deported in less than two weeks.
