Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 08 - 2013

RIYAHD — In line with its commitment to strengthen and diversify operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 3M, a global leader in innovation, has established its new mining, oil and gas solutions division.
With the introduction of the new division, the company said it will be able to increase its penetration in the Kingdom's mining, oil and gas industry and introduce its globally proven innovative and advanced solutions tailored for the industry.
3M has appointed Tareq Al Nouri as the Business Leader for the new unit.
Commenting on the introduction of the new business unit, Tareq Al Nouri, Business Leader, 3M Mining, O&G Solutions Division, said: “Saudi Arabia is a top priority market for 3M globally and the launch of our new mining, oil and gas division complements our objective to leverage the numerous opportunities that the country's landscape offers. With several years of proven innovation in the mining, oil and gas market we are confident that our solutions will establish their effectiveness in the Kingdom as well."
He added: "3M mining, oil and gas innovative solutions are designed to protect and extend the life of critical assets, protect people and the environment in which they operate and improve productivity.”
More than 60 years ago, 3M earned its place in mining, oil and gas applications for the first time. Today, nearly 10,000 3M products and materials are used in every corner of the industry – from exploration, production and refining to transportation and marketing.
While supplying a vast number of products to the global mining, oil and gas industry from the basic essentials' day-to-day usage, such as abrasives, electrical connectors and respirators to more advanced materials for preventing corrosion and reducing the density of down hole cements, 3M technologies offer a wealth of ingenious solutions to many of today's toughest challenges.
3M solutions are available across upstream, mid-stream and downstream operations.
A key element of 3M's mining, oil and gas business is maintaining its physical presence close to where the customers are based, thereby shortening the supply cycle and helping solve problems locally, and thus more quickly.
To this end, 3M has established fully staffed customer centers and field offices in several major oil-producing area of the world – bringing technical service and product development resources closer to where they are needed. — SG
