A woman has been arrested for allegedly selling the banned herb qat in Umm Sarar District in the Industrial Estate on Friday. On a tip off, agents of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Khamis raided the woman's home from where she was operating her business. Her husband managed to flee. The woman was using several children in her trade all of whom have also been arrested. A large quantity of qat and an unspecified amount of cash was seized from the house. Police are investigating the case and trying to discover the whereabouts of the husband. Meanwhile, in northern Asir, members of the Commission at Ballasmar and Ballahmar Station apprehended an Eritrean for allegedly selling locally distilled liquor known as “Araq”. A source in the Commission said nine Bangladeshi gamblers were arrested recently in one of the villages of Bahwan Valley, east of Ballahmar. – Okaz __
