Officers pulled a Filipino housemaid back from a suicide attempt inside her employer's house in Onaiza city in Al-Qassim region, an official source said. Calling the authorities for help, the family reported that the maid took a kitchen knife and rushed to the bathroom locking it from inside. When the police and rescue team arrived, the maid was found in the bathroom brandishing the knife with threats to kill herself, said Captain Jelawi Al-Harbi, assistant spokesman of Qassim Civil Defense. As they were trying to talk her out of it, the officers broke into the bathroom and saved her, Al-Harbi said. It was not immediately clear what drove her to think of suicide. The woman was taken into custody for investigation. Complaints of most housemaids in the Kingdom have been identified as related to breach of contract, sexual harassment, unpaid or underpaid wages. – Okaz __
