Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais was correct in labeling the use of chemical weapons in the Damascus suburb of Ghouta as a "heinous and horrific attack" against humanity. Your article "Ghouta chemical attack an act of terror, says Al-Sudais" (Aug. 14) said that the banned poisonous gases were used by the forces of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and killed 1,400 people. It is horrible that Assad's military forces should use chemical weapons against the Syrian people who have risen up against his brutal regime. This shows how Al-Assad has lost his sanity in trying to end the civil war that has engulfed Syria after he refused to listen to the people's clamor for him to step down for ruling arbitrarily and led them to economic ruin.
