JEDDAH — Diet Center of Rudolf Arabia beat Barangay Fame 67-62 in the Orient-JBL basketball tournament at the Bin Mahfouz court here recently. Barangay Fame was ahead up to the third quarter. Diet Center, however, played running game in the fourth quarter to go ahead. Ariza had 18 points for Diet Center and was adjudged the Orient Watch Player of the Game. Gallano scored 19 points for the losing cause. This tournament's major sponsor is Orient Watch-Al-Hussaini and Al-Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Hussaini). Others assisting are: Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Flash Cargo (Arnold Dela Cruz), Saudi Signs (Sam Adora) and Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi). In another match, Saudi Diyar of Jeffrey Esperenza defeated MTTS 75-65. Deleon and Junar Manila spearheaded Saudi Diyar with 16 points apiece and were adjudged the Giordano Players of the Game. Binas top-scored for the loser with 24 points. Leylati of Aref Al-Ayash and Gerome Posadas beat Tony's Dribblers 86-81 in another outing. The winner played good offense in the final quarter. Hugo scored 22 points for Leylati and picked up the JBL Player of the Game, while Catalino had a career-high 33 points for the losing side. Meanwhile, JBL also opened it's much-awaited 3rd MYNMN Inter-Naghi Division. The eight participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony. Present on the occasion were JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and MYN Commissioner Dennis Elmenzo. The awards for the Best Team in Uniform went to United Naghi, Hyundai Centennial and Hyundai Genesis. Denise Elmenzo of Hyundai Centennial picked up the Best Mascot accolades. Best Muse awards went to Mary Rose Guitche (United Naghi), Junibe Polinar (Mini Cooper) and Daisy Masigan (Hyundai Centennial Teams). Hyundai Centennial of Dennis Elmenzo beat United Naghi 75-53. Hyundai played trapping defense to defuse the offensive plays of United Naghi. Sarip had 20 points for Hyundai Centennial and was adjudged the Orient Watch Player of the Game, while Recayo scored 21 points for the losing team. Mini Cooper of Ronald Reyes beat Jaguar 84-59. Natividad top-scored with 19 points for Mini Cooper and was adjudged the MYNaghi Player of the Game. Long scored 19 points for Jaguar. Fuddruckers, the defending champion of the 2012 2nd conference, of Elmer delos Santos beat Hyundai Genesis 91-68. Melendez scored 25 points for the winner and was adjudged the Saudi Sign Player of the Game, while Hernandez led the loser with 19 points.
