Handicapped persons will get priority in obtaining grants for plots of land, Dr. Mohammad Badughaish, Director of the rehabilitation administration at Jeddah's Social Affairs Department, has said. The Ministry was in touch with relevant authorities in this regard, Badughaish was quoted as saying by Al-Madina daily . He said the Social Affairs Department was now bearing the cost of medical devices and machines for those handicapped who cannot afford them. The Ministries of Health, Social Affairs, Education and Higher Education are working together to implement the recommendations of a joint committee formed by the order of Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz to study the level of services introduced to those handicapped persons above the age of fifteen. The recommendations also include expanding, developing and supporting comprehensive rehabilitation centers for the handicapped with severe impairments. The Committee also recommended increasing society-based programs, such as, day care, and paying security insurance to families who are provided for by a person with an impairment, and paying them a handicapped allowance until they obtain jobs. __
