NEW YORK — Mark Sanchez passed for 169 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted at the goal line in the New York Jets' 37-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sanchez, who is competing with rookie Geno Smith for the Jets' starting quarterback job, completed 13-of-23 passes, including a 23-yard touchdown strike to Jeff Cumberland in the second quarter. Smith sat out the game with a sprained ankle. Blaine Gabbert might have taken a step forward in the Jaguars' quarterback competition, connecting on 13-of-16 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a sprained thumb. Chad Henne, also vying for the job, was four-of-10 for 30 yards and an interception. Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew saw his first action since he suffered a foot injury last October and carried three times for nine yards and caught one pass for 20 yards. Leading wide receiver A.J. Green sat out the game. Cardinals 12, Cowboys 7: Arizona won without scoring a touchdown in coach Bruce Arians' first home game as Jay Feely kicked four field goals and the Cardinals defeated the Dallas Cowboys 12-7. Packers 19, Rams 7: The Green Bay Packers scored their first points of the pre-season and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was an efficient 10-of-12 for 134 yards in a 19-7 victory over the St. Louis Rams. Texans 24, Dolphins 17: Matt Schaub fired a first-quarter touchdown pass to Owen Daniels and finished eight-of-11 for 92 yards in the Houston Texans' 24-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins. — Agencies
